Ethan Hunt and the IMF must track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity. With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, a deadly race around the globe begins as Ethan realises nothing can matter more than the mission – not even the lives of those he cares about most. 

Although featuring stunning cinematography, the film is a mixed bag, with places where it drags itself, resulting in a 163-minute runtime. While Christopher McQuarrie saves the film with picturesque shots and some well-made action sequences, some aspects could have been better, and the dialogue feels repetitive as the characters explain the importance of the mission. But then again, no one watches a spy-thriller for exceptional direction and well-written dialogue. They are there for the thrill and the action – and McQuarrie delivers. Shot in some picturesque locations in Norway, Dead Reckoning is definitely one of the more visually stunning films of the franchise.

Overall, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 is a great watch for those who love tightly-packed action in picturesque locales. And for them, it’s worth watching in the theatres!
