Over OMR 40 million worth of projects awarded to SMEs in Oman

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has awarded contracts worth more than OMR 41 million to small and medium enterprises in the transportation, communications and information technology sectors, during 2022-2023

Muscat – The contracts concluded with small and medium enterprises in the transport sector are estimated at OMR 40 million, with a total of 50 percent of the tenders awarded during 2022 – 2023. These projects represent maintenance works for asphalt and dirt roads in various governorates of Oman.

The cost of direct contracts concluded with SMEs in the communications and information technology sector amounted to OMR 1,450,000, or 95 percent of the total tenders awarded to the sector, during the first half of the current year, for supply of computer equipment and digital transformation projects.

The Ministry, in cooperation with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority and the General Secretariat of the Tender Board, provided business opportunities and initiatives for SMEs in the transport sector; ports, roads and bridges contracting; information technology services; supply and consulting in the field of Information technology; box culverts, street cat eyes traffic lights, street lighting poles, iron barriers, concrete barriers, guiding regulations, road pigments and paints, and other related products in the field of building contracting, roads, bridges, and information technology services.

The Ministry has undertaken several initiatives to support small and medium enterprises, including a merit initiative to facilitate the use of technical products in government agencies and the provision of necessary consulting program for technical companies in various fields.
