MUSCAT : Addressing the meeting, H.E. Pankaj Khimji, Advisor to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, said, “ Since its inception, the G20 has a protocol of inviting other countries as participating guests, in order to enhance the geographical balance by including all regions around the world.”
He indicated that the Republic of India had sent a special invitation to the Sultanate of Oman to participate in the G20 meetings at its 18th session in 2023. This, he noted, represents an important opportunity for the Sultanate to attend the intergovernmental forum of the most important economies around the world.
“The participation of the Sultanate of Oman in these meetings is important to enrich the fields of knowledge by exchanging expertise and experiences with the participating countries and working to highlight its efforts in the areas discussed by the group to enhance partnership with the international community, and discuss the most important common issues such as trade and investment, and facilitating international trade,” His Excellency added.

He pointed out that this participation will contribute in benefiting from the policies, regulations, incentives, programs and initiatives that enhance the business system issued by the G20. “The Sultanate of Oman is currently holding many preparatory and coordination meetings between the relevant government institutions, within the framework of preparations for its participation in the G20 meetings and to prepare an action plan and follow up on the outcomes of the meetings held,” he stated.
Explaining further, he said, “Oman has reviewed, during its participation in a series of group meetings that are currently being held in India, the economic challenges and proposals for solutions that would contribute to achieving the targeted global dimensions in addition to Oman’s vision 2040.”
