Oman’s Consulate General in Australia assures safety of citizens following earthquake

The Consulate General of the Sultanate of Oman in Australia has issued a statement to reassure the safety of citizens and students in the wake of the earthquake that struck some parts of the country

MUSCAT – “The Consulate General of the Sultanate of Oman in Australia is reassured of the safety of all Omani nationals and students on scholarship to Australian universities, following the earthquake that struck parts of northern Melbourne, Victoria State, and parts of southern Hobart, Tasmania,” said the statement.


The Consulate General also called upon all Omani nationals and students living in various Australian states to take caution and follow all instructions issued by competent authorities in the country. In cases of emergency, it requested everyone to communicate directly with one of the following numbers: +61 474271114, +61 402577370.
On Sunday evening, a 3.8-magnitude earthquake struck the Melbourne suburb of Sunbury at a depth of three kilometres, according to Geoscience Australia.
