MUSCAT – The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority stated that the team specialised in handling accidents related to hazardous materials in North Batinah Governorate responded to a report of a chlorine gas leak from a cylinder in the Sohar Industrial Area. The team was able to contain the leaked gas, which resulted in 42 people being injured – from medium to critical – owing to gas inhalation. The Authority calls on the public to understand the importance of following safety procedures in aspects related to hazardous materials used by some government and private agencies in order to avoid the occurrence of such accidents.
