Grounded Go First can fly in a week if planes not seized: CEO

Aviation regulator DGCA on Monday directed Go First to immediately stop bookings and sale of tickets directly or indirectly till further orders.

MUMBAI : Cash-strapped Go First airline is optimistic about resuming flights within seven days if the bankruptcy court restrains lessors from taking back its aircraft.

The budget airline which was grounded since May 2 under citing Pratt & Whitney for not providing engines to its aircrafts.

“We will hundred percent be able to save the airline if the court starts the insolvency resolution process “immediately”, said Kaushik Khona, speaking to Bloomberg.

Go Air – now rebranded as Go First – filed for bankruptcy on Tuesday after more than 50% of its Airbus SE A320 new fleets were grounded due to engine snags, setting the airline back by $1.3 billion in lost revenue.

Meanwhile, aviation regulator DGCA on Monday directed Go First to immediately stop bookings and sale of tickets directly or indirectly till further orders.

The airline operator has been asked to submit their reply within 15 days of the receipt of this notice, and further decision on the continuation of their Air Operators Certificate (AOC ) will be taken on the basis of the reply submitted by them.
