Muscat: “Our visit to Oman is a step towards strengthening economic relations between Oman and Russia; it is an impetus to take the next step to boosting our economic partnership. We are in contact with many people who might be interested in investing in Oman. Our visit is built on these interests,” Alexander Stuglev told The Arabian Stories.
Under the umbrella of SPIEF, a delegation from the Roscongress Foundation, headed by Stuglev, visited Oman this week. Prior to this visit, Stuglev met with a delegation from the Sultanate of Oman’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Moscow, where he spoke about the importance of establishing direct contact between Russian and Omani companies to strengthen mutual trust, find common ground and build strategic cooperation.
To be held in June (14 to 17), the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) is expected to attract thousands of entrepreneurs from around the world. The Forum is described as a unique event in the world of business and economics.

Highlighting the benefits accruing entrepreneurs from Oman at the Forum, he said there are several opportunities for businesses from different sectors to utilize the global platform to leverage their presence. “We can also organize Russian-Omani business meetings,” he added.
According to Stuglev, Oman has several avenues to diversify its economic activities. “We foresee great potentials for sectors like tourism, energy and agriculture, besides others,” he pointed out.
SPIEF has been held since 1997, and since 2006, it has been held under the auspices of the President of the Russian Federation, who has also attended each event. Over the last 24 years, the Forum has become a leading global platform for members of the business community to meet and discuss the key economic issues in the emerging markets, and the world as a whole. This year is the 26th edition of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
