MUSCAT – The Civil Aviation Authority has issued a heavy thundershower warning today. The warning period starts at 1 PM today, and will be in effect until 11 PM today. The thunderstorm is expected to concentrate over the governorates of South Al Sharqiya, North Al Sharqiya, and parts of Muscat and Al Wusta, along with the mountainous areas of Al Dakhylia and South Al Batinah Governorates.
According to the CAA, the thundershowers are expected to be accompanied by strong downdrafts with speed of 15 to 35 kt (28-64 km/h). Along with this, the CAA warns everyone of the limited horizontal visibility due to the heavy rains.
The Civil Aviation Authority advises all to take precautions during the rain, avoid low lying areas, and not to cross Wadis or set sail during the alert period.
