MUSCAT: Oman Cricket formulates it’s second round of the Premier Division of Oman Cricket’s Domestic League in the form of Super League and Plate League. 

The first round of the 8-team Premier Division was played in a single round-robin format with the second round now being played as Super League and Plate League respectively. Both Super League and Plate League will be played in a 4-team double round-robin format i.e. each side facing a opponent twice. The 4 teams for the Super League to have qualified based on the standings of the first round as top 4 of the Premier Division are Muscat CT, Yalla Shabab, Oman Stallions and Renaissance CT while the Plate League will be played between the bottom 4 of the first round of the Premier Division and they are Zawawi Powertech, AER Bin Ali, IAS CT and Majees CC. 

Duleep Mendis, Chief Development Officer – Oman Cricket, said, “ We have had a fairly competitive first round of the Premier Division this season and I am delighted with the improved quality of cricket in Oman giving us depth in the domestic circuit. The Super League and Plate League will further help the teams to focus on their strengths by playing opponents of similar caliber and to increase the competitiveness between the teams further providing the National Team with new and fresh talent and strengthen the pool. I wish all the teams the best to express themselves backing their strengths”. 

The Super League and Plate League fixtures will start from 28 February with matches of the Super League played on Turf 1 of the Oman Cricket Academy Grounds while the matches of the Plate League will be played on Turf 2 of the Oman Cricket Academy Grounds.
