Fans of the DC Universe are perhaps awaiting one of the most exciting live-action films of the DCU. The recently unveiled Flash trailer has fans pumped about the possibilities of what they will get to witness in the actual film. Even naysayers have taken to Twitter to express how beautiful the trailer turned out.
Based on the iconic ‘Flashpoint Paradox’ graphic novel, the film revolves around a decision taken by Barry Allen that almost “breaks the universe.” Barry uses his powers to reverse time to his childhood and save his mother from dying, a tragic incident that shook his childhood and gave rise to a misunderstanding that landed his father in lifetime imprisonment. However, as Barry reverses time to prevent this from happening, something akin to a “butterfly effect” takes place, effectively creating a whole new timeline with drastic changes from Barry’s original world. For instance, this is now a world without metahumans. Instead of Superman being a happy boy raised on a Kansas farm, this world has Supergirl, a Kryptonian who crash-landed on Earth the same way as Superman but instead of the Kents, she was raised in a top-secret military facility in isolation.
We catch a glimpse of all of this in the trailer itself, along with a new bat-suit for the fan-favourite ‘Batfleck,’ a glimpse of the two-wheeled Batmobile, and… Michael Keaton as Batman. That’s right! The return of the iconic actor to play the role of an alternate-timeline Batman is perhaps the most iconic moment of the trailer. Well, that and the epic confrontation between General Zod and Supergirl. Overall, fans seem to have got more than they asked for from the franchise. Now, they can only hope the studio does not pull off yet another ‘Justice League’ incident, where, due to tragic circumstances leading to numerous directorial changes, fans witnessed an end result far different (read, worse) than what they were originally promised in the initial trailer.
