Set in 1976, the Columbian series ‘Eva Lasting’ on Netflix tells the story of a teenage girl, who joins an all-boys school in Columbia. It follows her journey as she develops different kinds of friendly and romantic dynamics while going through one of the most eventful phases of her life. Netflix’s official description says, “A mysterious teen girl arrives at an all-boys school in 1970s Colombia, breaking stereotypes, rules… and a few hearts.”

The story is tied together by the narrator, who is a grown-up version of Camilo Granados (Emmanuel Restrepo), an awkward teen who is among a group of awkward teens going to Jose Maria Root Public School. But things take a turn when Eva Samper (Francisca Estevez) arrives. Pretty, and armed with a point of view the boys of Maria Root have never seen before, Eva joins the school as part of the effort by the city to make its public schools co-ed. While most of the group is intrigued by her, she takes a shine to Camilo. What follows next forms the heart of this off-beat teen show that explores the volatile teen years against the backdrop of a politically volatile Columbia. Even if teen dramas are not your thing, you could surely give this latest Netflix addition a whirl.
