Third massive earthquake in 24 hours shakes Turkey, Syria; claims over 1900 lives

The third quake is believed to be part of the aftershock, and has recorded 7.5 on the Richter scale.

MUSCAT : Hours after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake caused widespread devastation in Turkey and Syria, a third powerful quake shook the region within 24 hours, raising the death count to over 1900. Believed to be part of the aftershock from the first earthquake, this third strong tremor that devastated Southeastern Turkey has recorded a magnitude of 7.5 on the Richter scale. According to the US Geological Survey, the epicentre of the earthquake was 4 km south-southeast of Ekinözü, a town in Turkey’s Kahramanmaraş province.
