MUSCAT : While fans were divided over the future of the DC Cinematic Universe, the new reign of celebrated director James Gunn and Peter Safran seems to have given them a ray of hope. Under the duo’s leadership, the on-screen Dc Universe is gearing up for a roster of exciting upcoming films and TV shows, as Gunn recently revealed in a press conference. Here’s what fans can expect in the coming years:

SUPERMAN: LEGACY
Written by James Gunn himself, Superman: Legacy can be kind of considered a reboot of the origin story of the last son of Krypton. The film will follow Kal-El as he reconciles his extraterrestrial origins with his human family and upbringing. Of course, expectations are high for this film as fans wonder who Gunn will cast as the next Superman, now that Henry Cavill is not an option anymore. This one is the only title whose release date has been announced: July 11, 2025.

THE AUTHORITY
Based on a late 90’s comic series published under DC’s WildStorm imprint, The Authority revolves around a group of seven heroes with very abstract and high-concept superpowers (one of the members can create psychic bonds with entire cities and draw its power). Should be an exciting addition to the universe!
THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD
This one is perhaps the most anticipated upcoming title on the list. Inspired by Grant Morrison’s comic series which in turn took its inspiration from a silver-age DC Comics title that starred Batman and Robin in crossover stories with other DC characters. DC Studios’ news release about this upcoming title says “the DCU will introduce its Batman and Robin in this unusual father-son story inspired by Grant Morrison’s comic series.”
SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW
Based on Tom King’s award-winning comics stories, this film is set to feature an iteration of Supergirl that fans are “not used to seeing.” Fans can only wonder how different this version of Supergirl will be, compared to its CW counterpart.
SWAMP THING
Not a lot is known about this upcoming project other than what DC Studios’ lineup announcement says about it, i.e. this film will explore and investigate the dark origins of the iconic DC character Swamp Thing.
