Oman launches system to evaluate performance of govt employees

The Ministry of Labour has issued a unified system for measuring job performances of all employees of the state administrative apparatus, which will become effective from January 30th

MUSCAT : Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Kalbani, Assistant Director General for Legal Studies and Assistant Project Manager for the Ejada System told Oman News Agency that the system will be applied by line managers and human resource departments to measure employee performance and evaluate their contributions and achievements.

The system applies to all employees of the units of the state administrative apparatus who have been in service for a period of more than six months.

The performance is assessed on a score of 1 to 100, as per the follows: excellent (90 to 100), very good/above average (80 to 90), good (70 to below 80) satisfactory (55 to below 70) unsatisfactory/weak (below 55).

The decision specifies the publication of the names of employees who have been ranked excellent, and who will be given incentives and rewards at the end of each year by the Ministry of Labour as per approved allocations. The performance evaluation will be conducted twice in a calendar year.

The Minister of Labour issues the percentage distribution curve, the controls for its application, and the type of incentives and rewards at the end of each year, according to the approved allocations.
