MUSCAT : The Directorate General of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar Governorate is preparing to hold the activities of the Empty Quarter Festival in its second edition in the Al Khadf area in Niyabat Al Shisr in the Wilayat of Thumrait. The festival will be held in cooperation with a number of government agencies and the private sector and will take place from January 25 to February 3.

The festival is part of the efforts of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism to achieve the vision of the tourism development plan to make the Dhofar Governorate a sustainable tourism destination throughout the year, in addition to highlighting the elements of winter tourism, attracting investors and introducing them to possible investment opportunities. Khalid bin Abdullah al-Abri, the Director General of the Directorate General of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar Governorate, stated that the festival will host many heritage, tourism, entertainment, and sports activities, in addition to organising challenge competitions, marketing exhibitions, and concerts by various artists.

He explained that the festival oasis is where all services, various events, and public facilities will be made available for visitors, including mobile vehicles for entrepreneurs and the heritage village and Bar, which will contain an exhibition of handicrafts, a corner for productive families, and a square for traditional events.
