MUSCAT : Oman has been ranked among the countries with the lowest crime rate, according to the Global Crime Index for the year 2023. The Index has ranked Oman as the 5th safest country in the world, with a low crime rate of 19.7%. Qatar topped the Index of safest countries with a crime rate of 14%, followed by the UAE with 15.1%, Taiwan (China) with 16.2% and the Isle of Man, which is located between the United Kingdom and Ireland, with 18%.
On the other hand, according to the Index, the highest crime rate in the world is found in Venezuela, followed by Papua New Guinea, Afghanistan, and South Africa.
