MUSCAT: In 2022, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik chaired four meetings of the Council of Ministers, during which several royal directives and orders were issued in the local, social, and economic fields. During the first meeting, held Al-Baraka Al-Amer Palace on March 3, 2022, His Majesty the Sultan issued the Royal Directives to Accelerate the review of social programs and the basis for calculating social security allowances in order to provide an appropriate standard of living for these groups, establish an economic zone in the district of Al-Rawdah in the Wilayat of Mahdah in Al-Buraimi Governorate in order to advance the local economy in the state in particular and the governorate in general and develop it economically, and keep pace with global transformations in reducing carbon emissions.

The second meeting was held on May 31, 2022, at the same venue, during which His majesty issued the Royal Directives ending the work of the Supreme Committee in charge of examining the mechanism for dealing with developments resulting from the spread of COVID-19, confirming that the Ministry of Health will continue to take the measures it deems appropriate in coordination with the concerned authorities, and presenting a number of initiatives and procedures with economic and social dimensions, at a financial cost It is estimated at OMR 130 million.

During the fourth cabinet meeting, held at Al-Hosn Al-Amer Palace in the Wilayat of Salalah in the Dhofar Governorate on November 17, 2022, His Majesty issued three Royal Directives launching the “National Program for Financial Sustainability and Development of the Financial Sector” for a period of three years starting from January 2023 and approving the implementation of a number of additional development projects in addition to the projects approved in the tenth five-year plan. Along with this, His Majesty the Sultan also issued a Royal Directive adopting a set of initiatives. These include the promotion of government employees affiliated with the civil service system and other systems who are eligible for promotion from the seniority of 2012, fixing vehicle fuel prices according to the month of October 2021 as a maximum until the end of 2023, and extending the disbursement of the job security benefit to citizens who have finished their services within the Sultanate of Oman.
