Buenos Aires: Lionel Messi has been the talk of the town ever since he led his team to a glorious World Cup win in what many are calling one of the best final matches ever. Undoubtedly, a historic moment for the man as well as for the country, this win led his club Paris Saint Germain to extend his contract and he was invited to the famous Maracana Stadium of Brazi to make footprints at the Hall of Fame. And now, the Central Bank of the Republic of Argentina held a discussion to put Messi on the thousand-peso currency note.

While the financial newspaper El Financiero, which covered the news of the Central Bank meeting, states that the bank proposed the idea “jokingly,” reports suggest that the authorities indeed held a meeting about this even before the World Cup final itself. Amidst the news of one Monarch set to feature on upcoming UK banknotes, it seems the Monarch of football might make a cameo on the Argentine currency.
