DOHA: It seems Brazil’s victory against Serbia came at a rather steep cost, with both Neymar and Danilo out of the team’s squad for the rest of the World Cup group stage matches. While Brazil scored a 2-0 victory against Serbia amidst an array of surprising failures by other fan-favorite teams, Neymar and Danilo suffered injuries on their ankles during the match. While Neymar tried to continue playing despite his injury, the Brazil forward had to give in after 11 minutes.
Team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar has stated that the MRI scans of both their ankles have revealed ligament damage. “They will miss the next game for sure and we will be cautious as they will undergo treatment in order to try to get them in shape so they can play again in the World Cup,” Lasmar informed the press.
While the squad can find many alternatives for Neymar’s position in the team, finding a replacement for Danilo’s right-back slot might be trickier.
