DOHA: While Brazil’s victory against Serbia amidst a series of surprising failures this World Cup has given fans hope, concerns have been raised regarding Neymar’s ankle injury during the match. The Brazil forward tried to continue playing with the injury but had to give up after 11 minutes, with acute agony prominent on his face. The 30-year-old Brazilian had ice taped to the damaged area, while several Selecao bench players tried to soothe him.
According to the Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar and manager Tite, Neymar will have a scan to determine the severity of this injury. “We need 24-48 hours to have a better understanding through the MRI. Tomorrow we will have a new assessment. Now we need to wait, we cannot make any premature comments on his evolution. We need to wait. He stayed 11 minutes on the pitch after his injury up until the point he could no longer continue,” Lasmar added during the post-match Press Conference.
According to the doctor, Neymar is currently continuing his treatment with physiotherapy.
