VIRGINIA- Tuesday night saw tragedy unfold in Chesapeake, Virginia, as 6 people were shot dead, with many left injured, at a Walmart. Reports say that the incident occurred within an hour of the store’s closing time. Chesapeake police have recently confirmed that the shooter is dead as well.
According to a spokesperson from the Chesapeake police, investigators had been thoroughly searching the store from Tuesday night well into Wednesday morning, searching for victims and people who may have been hiding. Investigators believe that the shooter was a current or a former employee of the store.
Naturally, the incident has once again sparked debates regarding gun control and mental health awareness, although it is yet unknown whether the perpetrator was suffering from any mental illnesses.
