MUSCAT : The 6th election to the Board of Directors – Indian Schools in Oman will be held on 21st January 2023 as per the Election Commission of the Board of Directors. In a press conference, Mr. Babu Rajendran, Election Commissioner briefed about the preparations being carried out by the Election Commission to elect 5 members of the Board of Directors – Indian Schools in Oman from among the parents of students of Indian School Muscat.
Election Commission of the Board of Directors consists of Election Commissioner Mr. Babu Rajendran, and Commission Members Mr. Shakeel K.M., Mr. Divesh Loomba, Mrs. Mythili Ananth, and Mr. A.A. Avodai Nayakam. The Election Commission will oversee the entire process of election under the supervision of Ministry of Education, Sultanate of Oman.
Election Commission is currently preparing the voters’ list. Election Commission has also developed a website www.indianschoolsboardelection.org through which the parents can not only get themselves updated about various activities of the Election Commission but also can also check their eligibility to vote with the help of their parent id. This facility will be available for the parents from 26th November 2022. The list of eligible voters will also be displayed on the school notice board on 26th November 2022. In case, parents find any discrepancy in their record, the same shall be intimated to the designated email id of Election Commission i.e., firstname.lastname@example.org.

Issue of nomination form for candidates will commence on 26th November 2022. The prospective candidates can start filing the nomination form on all working days (Sunday to Thursday) from 01st December 2022 to 16th December 2022 till 1 pm (both dates are inclusive). The Election Commission is expected to complete the scrutiny of nominations latest by 22nd December 2022. Candidates have the right to withdraw their nominations till 1 pm on 04 Jan 2023. The Final list of candidates will be published on 05 Jan 2023. The brochure having the profile of candidates will be circulated among parents by the first week of January 2023. The same will be displayed in Election Commission Website also.
Mr. Babu Rajendran, Election Commissioner urged all parents to exercise their franchise to ensure that the most preferred and most eligible candidates are elected to the Board of Directors. The voting shall begin at 8.00 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. when the gates of the school will be closed. However, those who are inside the school for voting before 5 p.m. will be allowed to cast their votes. Mr. Divesh Loomba, member of the Election Commission emphasised that the parents should be in possession a valid resident to cast the vote. Mr. Shakeel KM stated that adequate steps will be initiated by the Election Commission to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election process.
Election Commission also requested the parents to abide by the laws of the land while coming to exercise their franchise. Canvassing in any form in and outside the school premises is strictly prohibited during the election-day and there will be strict vigilance to ensure that there is no clogging around the area due to voter turnout. Election Commission also urged the candidate to treat other candidates with respect and dignity and any form of defamation or malign propaganda against opponent candidates will be viewed seriously by the Election Commission.
