MUSCAT- The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, attended the 24th meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) in Bangladesh today. 

The meeting will last for three days, and among the agendas on the table are topics related to the association’s work in fisheries, maritime safety and security, disaster management, technology, tourism, and Cultural exchange. The IORA meeting also focused on “Blue Economy,” which is the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods, and jobs while preserving the health of the ocean ecosystem.

The Sultanate of Oman is considered one of the founding countries of the IORA and hosts the association’s Fisheries Support Unit (FSU). Currently, the IORA includes 23 member countries and 9 countries as dialogue partners.
