QATAR : While Lionel Messi has achieved legendary status among the current generation of football fans, he is yet to add a glorious feather to his hat: the World Cup. On the other hand, it seems the famed player from Argentina player is running out of time and opportunities for this coveted achievement.

The Qatar World Cup 2022 is the fifth, and likely the last chance for both of football’s current icons Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo to add a World Cup to their careers. It is quite possible that neither of the two greatest footballers of this generation will get to see the day.

Spain coach Luis Enrique commented on this earlier this week, saying that it would be “unfair” if Messi were never to win the World Cup. However, it remains to be seen how everything goes for the two behemoths of current football in the Qatar World Cup.
