DOHA: The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here. The moment this region has been waiting for since 2010 – the first World Cup in the Middle East just got underway in Doha on Sunday.

Morgan Freeman, Jungkook and several others stared in spectacular opening ceremony that delivered a message of unity and inclusivity.

Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived at the stadium flanked by FIFA president Gianni Infantino, to a roaring crowd, and took their seats alongside other world leaders.

“How beautiful it is for people to put aside what divides them in order to celebrate their diversity,” Qatar Emir said in his opening speech. “Let this tournament be full of inspiring days of goodness and hope, and welcome everyone to the world in Doha,” he added.
