Oman wins 9 awards at the World Travel Awards 2022

The Sultanate of Oman won 9 awards in the travel and tourism sector - out of 69 awards distributed to 50 countries around the world - as part of the closing ceremony of the World Travel Awards 2022

Muscat – The World Travel Awards, hosted by Oman Airports, witnessed the participation of more than 200 representatives from airlines, hotels and international tourism companies.

The ceremony was held at Al Bustan Palace Hotel, under the patronage of H.E. Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, who confirmed that hosting of the event comes within the framework of the government’s efforts to promote tourism and introduce the capabilities of Oman to the world.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Ayman bin Ahmed Al Hosani, CEO of Oman Airports, said, “This annual ceremony is an opportunity for communication between decision makers in the world of travel; the Sultanate of Oman has won many awards in the fields of travel and tourism over the past years.”

He also stressed that the travel and tourism industry has become one of the most prominent economic sectors around the world compete, and the Middle East is one of its most promising markets at present. He explained that the ‘Oman Vision 2040’ placed this industry among the most prominent sectors that must be focused on during the coming period.

He pointed out that Oman Airports hosting this ceremony for the second time demonstrates the developments that the Sultanate of Oman has witnessed during the past three years, despite the challenges faced by the travel and tourism industry during the ‘Covid-19’.
