Oil prices drop by more than two dollars

Oil prices fell more than two dollars, amid growing concerns about fuel demand with the worsening outbreak of the Corona virus (Covid-19) in China, the largest importer of crude, as well as tension over the results of the US midterm elections

MUSCAT: Brent crude futures for January delivery fell $2.56 to $95.36 a barrel, a loss of 2.6%, and US crude fell $2.88, or 3.14%, to $88.91 a barrel upon settlement.

The two benchmarks recorded in Monday’s session their highest level since August, supported by news reports that China is considering canceling strict restrictions related to combating ‘Covid-19’. But the rise in new cases in a number of Chinese cities weakened the prospects for easing restrictions.
