Oman’s power and water production on the rise

The total electricity production in the Sultanate increased to 28,527 gigawatts per hour while the amount of water produced reached 341. 92 million cubic meters.

MUSCAT: The National Center for Statistics and Information data released on Monday showed that the total electricity production in the Sultanate of Oman till August 2022 increased by 1.6% to 28,527 gigawatts per hour.

The Governorate of Dhofar recorded an increase in the total electricity production by 8.5% to reach 2,847.4 gigawatts per hour. The governorates of North and South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah also recorded an increase in the total electricity production by 6.3% to reach 18,559.8 gigawatts per hour.

The net electricity production till August 2022, which includes the purchases of the Oman Energy and Water Procurement Company and the purchases of the Rural Areas Electricity Company by regions, amounted to 27,604.2 gigawatts per hour, an increase of 1.5%.

The largest amount of net electricity production was in the Governorate of Dhofar, with an increase of 8.9% to reach 2,713.1 gigawatts per hour. The governorates of North and South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah recorded an increase in net electricity production by 6.2 percent to reach 17,927.1 gigawatts per hour.

The total amount of water produced in the Sultanate increased by 5.4% to reach 341. 92 million cubic meters till August, as the governorates of Dhofar and Muscat recorded an increase in water production by 8.7% and 8.6%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
