In pictures: Omani Tree Day observed

Several programmes including tree planting by school children were held across the Sultanate on Monday.

MUSCAT: On the occasion of Omani Tree Day, observed on October 31 annually, several programmes were held across the Sultanate on Monday.


Most schools including the private schools observed Arbor Day, the festival of trees, by planting at homes, school premises, street sides among others.


Muscat Municipality tweeted: “With every tree that is planted, we instill values …”


In Barka, various activities for children were held including a coloring workshop aimed at instilling the importance of afforestation in future generations.


In Al Buraimi Governorate, trees were planted in about 22 schools.


The day also witnessed authorities distributing and planting more than 3,000 wild Omani seedlings of Sidr, Samar, Ghaf, Shua and Biham trees across the Sultanate.
