MUSCAT: Engineer Suad bint Saeed Al Hosani, a researcher and expert in the field of bioenergy and biogas, has been appointed as the head of the group of experts in the biogas industry. The group, Women in Biogas, is considered to be one of the most important unit of the World Biogas Organization. It includes more than 22 members from over 22 non-Arab countries.

Al Hosani is the only Arab woman in the group to have the position of president, commissioned directly by the World Biogas Association.

Speaking to local agencies on the occasion of the new post, she said: “I feel proud and responsible for being the first Arab woman to be chosen for this position, which includes a group of experts from Germany, Italy, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and other developed countries.”

She added: “The World Biogas Association informed me of the main reasons for choosing the group at this particular stage, and mentioned its admiration for the level of experience I possess and for my commitment and remarkable skills in the field at a global level.”

Al Hosani will hold her first meeting with the organization as the new head of the group, in preparation for its periodic meetings with the team and to initiate work on implementing the goals of the organization, which primarily supports women’s leadership in the biogas industry and renewable energy, and delivers its message through the group to publicize the role of women in this aspect.

It is worth noting that Suad Al Hosani is the first Omani woman chosen by the WBA Board of Directors , which is based in the United Kingdom, to be a member and an expert in the field of bioenergy and biogas, and a representative of the Middle East and North Africa.
