MUSCAT: The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) approved its whistleblowing and whistleblower protection policy by opening an official communication channel (Audit@opaz.gov.om) on Thursday, to protect whistleblowers and ensures confidentiality in line with its vision, mission and values.
By establishing this policy, OPAZ aims to preserve its positive image and good reputation, as well as improve the quality of its services and promote transparency, integrity, impartiality and fairness. This also reflects its keenness to apply best practices in preserving its assets and raising performance efficiency by informing employees and all those dealing with OPAZ to report any committed violations or wrong practices that are in violation of the laws, regulations and systems in force in OPAZ.
Accordingly, this policy guarantees the confidence, protection and confidentiality of the whistleblower.

The policy stipulates that the OPAZ adheres to the highest standards of integrity and best practices in delivering its responsibilities and business, which are considered a basis for success and building a good reputation by reporting unprincipled or illegal work practices.
Established in August 2020, OPAZ oversees the Special Economic Zones at Duqm, Al Mazunah, Salalah, Sohar and aims to put in place a system for the one-stop shop in all its special economic and free zones.
