MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman’s premier educational institution, Sultan Qaboos University is among top 10 Arab universities and ranked 8 according to QS Quacquarelli Symonds, global higher education analyst. The result was announced, the other day, during the QS World Ranking Conference 2023 for the Best Arab Universities held in the Emirate of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Dr. Tariq bin Muhyi Al-Din bin Muhammad Ghulam, Assistant Dean for Training and Community Service at the College of Science and Head of the University’s Global Ranking Project, said: “The university has emerged over the past years with good performance and the presence of a competitor, based on the best practices that it has adopted in scientific research and academic work in accordance with strategies and initiatives. It enabled it to overcome the repercussions of the economic crisis and the subsequent Covid-19 crisis.”

Dr. Tariq also stressed that the SQU seeks to intensify efforts in the coming years to achieve the national goals and the requirements of Oman Vision 2040 related to the classification of universities in the Sultanate within the QS Index Global.
