MUSCAT: Muscat Municipality has embarked on the road dualization project of Al Jood road in Al Amerat. First phase of the project, expected to last nine months, will include the addition of a new entry to Al Jood road so as to reduce traffic congestion at the existing entrance near the Al Mahaj intersection. This entry follows the lane near the Oman Cricket Academy, and connects to Al Ihsan Roundabout.
The project includes the construction of a dual carriageway with a length of 630 meters, the duplication of the existing road with a length of 790 meters – comprising a total length of 1042 meters; the construction of acceleration and deceleration lanes on the dual carriageway of ‘Al Amerat Road’ with a length of 1010 meters; the construction of a new roundabout and construction of ferries to drain rainwater and valleys in the project area in five locations; and the construction of a support wall of 115 meters length, alongside another wall to protect against valleys with a length of 750 meters.
The implementation of the project is expected to raise the efficiency of traffic flow at all times, and enhance commercial development and commercial facilities to serve the surrounding areas.
