Shabab Oman II returns home at Salalah port

The Royal Navy of Oman vessel visited 18 countries and 25 ports during its voyage with a message ‘Oman, the Land of Peace’.

SALALAH:  The Royal Navy of Oman ship – Shabab Oman II – reached the port of Salalah Port in the Dhofar Governorate after completing its sixth international voyage (Oman, the Land of Peace) on Saturday.

During its international trip, Shabab Oman II visited 18 countries and docked 25 ports while participating in many maritime festivals and international competitions, won big and small achievements.

The most notably award was for the best ship, in the Festival of Launching the Longest Sailing Races 2022 held in Esbjerg, Denmark. Shabab Oman II was awarded with the ship that traversed the longest distance.

In the port of Harlingen, Netherlands, Shababb Oman II won the award for the best ship in the long-distance sailing race and the International Friendship Award for Longshore Sailing Races, which is one of the highest honour.

Shabab Oman II which travelled 15,275 nautical miles will be docked in Salalah port till October 18. An official reception has been planned on October 23 at Port Sultan Qaboos in Muscat to honour the vessel for completing the voyage successfully.
