MUSCAT: Oman is all set to host the sixth edition of Gulf Hockey Fiesta on October 28, 2022 at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Stadium in Baushar.
The championship which is being held under the patronage of Oman Hockey Association has participation of 12 teams. The tournament which is approved by the Asian Hockey Federation will start from 2pm until 11pm on October 20, while the finals will be held at 8pm on October 29. According to the organisers, six international teams and six local teams will take part in the tournament. As part of the tournament, exhibitions matches between Indian school teams will also be held on October 29.
The championship is technically supported by UTSC, a sports club which has branches in UAE, Saudi Arabia and India. For the first time Oman national women’s team will also be playing friendly matches with visiting teams.

Dr Marwan Juma Al Juma, Chairman, Oman Hockey Association (OHA) and the brain behind bringing the prestigious tournament to the Sultanate said: “We are all set for a successful and high-calibre international tournament. It is a world-class event. And we are proud it is happening in Oman. We are confident that this event will promote tourism in a big way and provide a platform for foreign players to exhibit their skills in hockey to the Omani sports-loving public.”
