Oman Chamber of Commerce elections to be held on November 22

For the first time, public joint stock companies will be represented by five members, as well as one foreign investor.

MUSCAT: The elections of Board of Directors of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) will be held on November 22, 2022.

Addressing a press conference to announce the details about the election, His Excellency Dr. Saleh bin Saeed Masan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Investment Promotion for Trade and Industry, and Chairman of the Elections Committee said that 13,000 companies have registered so far to vote. “About 61 percent of which are of the first and premium classes,” he said.

“For the first time, public joint stock companies will be represented by 5 members, as well as one foreign investor,” he said. “The percentage of participation of public shareholding companies for voting is 60% of the total of these companies in Oman,” he noted.

Following request from members, the last date for registration has been extended till October 27.

The Board of Directors of OCCI will consist of 21 members, including 5 members from the Governorate of Muscat, and 10 heads of branch, in addition to five members of the boards of directors of public shareholding companies listed on the Muscat Stock Exchange, their members and their chief executives.

“The companies that are active in the market and are genuinely present in the market will be allowed to vote,” he added.
