MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman’s Consumer Protection Authority in Governorate of South Al Batinah intervened to settle amicably between a consumer and one of the vehicle sales showrooms in Rustaq.
In the settlement, it was agreed to recover OMR 20,200 which is equal to the value of the amount paid for the vehicle that showed defects, after the Authority found that there is merit in consumer’s complaint.
In the complaint filed, the consumer who purchased a saloon model 2022 from one of the showrooms found that it differed from the agreed specifications. He also noted that the vehicle had the effects of an accident that led to its cancellation from the insurance company because of the high value of its repair. The showroom refused to replace the vehicle or failed to repay, the consumer said in his complaint to the CPA, which took the necessary measures after meeting the two parties and reached an amicable settlement by returning the value of the amount paid to the vehicle.
