MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman ranked third among Arab nations in the latest World Food Security Index report for 2022, which was released by the respected British magazine The Economist.
The index is based on criteria such as food security, access to food, food availability, food quality and safety, food sustainability and adaptation. At least 113 countries were considered in the report which was released last month.
Globally, Oman ranked 35th compared to 40th last year and third in the Arab world, with a score of (71.2 points), behind the United Arab Emirates who were 23rd and Qatar who ranked 30th.

Finland ranked first in the world, followed by Ireland, Norway, France and then Netherlands.
The Sultanate also recorded an increase in the food sustainability and adaptation criteria by (8.4 points), thus becoming the seventh in the Arab world.
