Development of tourist sites and traditional markets in Batinah

Work is underway in the South Al Batinah Governorate to develop tourist sites, heritage and cultural monuments and beaches, so as to provide basic facilities and services at these destinations.

MUSCAT : The office of the Governorate of South Al Batinah is implementing a number of development projects in all wilayats of the governorate during the first phase of the tenth five-year plan 2021-2025. The target is to develop tourist sites, heritage and cultural monuments and beaches and provide them with basic facilities and services, and establish traditional markets in the wilayats. This would entail restoration work as well as establishment of commercial markets and building integrated services in a number of wilayats of the governorate.

H.E. Sheikh Saif bin Hamair Al Malik Al Shehhi, Governor of South Al Batinah, said: “Work is currently underway on a number of development projects in the various wilayats of South Al Batinah Governorate, including the development of entrances to the wilayats of Barka, Wadi Al Maawil, Nakhal, Al Musanah, Al Awabi and Al Rustaq, and the development of beaches in the wilayats of Barka and Al Musanah, as well as the establishment of kiosks.”


He also indicated that some service facilities are being implemented in tourist sites in the wilayats of Nakhal and Rustaq, where the Governorate’s municipality has started installing facilities like public toilets and shaded spots to enhance their touristic value.
