MUSCAT: Four Omani football fans – Faisal bin Abdul Rahim Al Balushi, Mazen bin Mahfouz Al Siyabi, Ammar bin Shubar Al Mousawi, and Asim bin Lal Bakhsh Al Balushi – have been selected to the Qatar World Cup Fan Leader Network from the Sultanate.
The Fan Leader Network includes more than 200 fans representing the 32 teams that have qualified for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and have another 200 from every corner of the globe.
The network contributes to tournament planning through fan insight, research, content creation and message amplification.

The Fan Leader Network is expected to play an important role in helping supporters enjoy the first tournament in the region.
The selection was made by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy’s (SC) Fan Leader Network Doha, which is supervising the infrastructure of the 2022 World Cup and the four Omani fans will be part of part of the international delegation of fan leaders during the World Cup from November 19 to December 18.
Faisal Al Balushi said: “We were nominated for the Qatar World Cup Fan Leaders Network by the Oman Football Association during the past one year. The event, where Omani leaders emerged through their interaction with all the work required of the fan interaction team at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy”.
Fan leaders have participated in various workshops and activations, with the goal of promoting football’s showpiece event later this year. One of the activations included attending the Lusail Super Cup at Lusail Stadium, which will host the FIFA World Cup final on December 18.
Mazen bin Mahfouz al-Siyabi spoke about the role of Omani leaders in the network. “We published all information and news related to the Qatar World Cup through our personal accounts on a regular basis and provided the Omani media with some exclusive news about the tournament. More than 250,000 followers have benefited from our accounts,” he revealed.
“The Qatar World Cup network includes more than 400 members representing 60 countries. They are well-known football fans and renowned in their respective countries,” chipped in Asim bin Lal Bakhsh Al Balushi.
Lucky six members of the group met former England captain and FIFA World Cup Ambassador David Beckham at the Legacy Pavilion in Al Bidda Tower, Doha the other day.
