MUSCAT: Forbes Middle East’s 2022 list of 30 Under 30 includes the names of three young Omanis: Mohsin bin Hani Al-Bahrani, Mutasim Al-Awlaki and Selina Faid.

Forbes released it’s fifth annual 30 Under 30 list, featuring an inspiring young cohort of entrepreneurs, innovators, and athletes, spanning six categories: sports, commerce, science and technology, finance, social impact, as well as creativity.
Mohsin bin Hani Al-Bahrani, aged 25, is the CEO of Mohsin Haider Darwish Automotive, Construction Equipment and Renewable Energy Company. He founded the company (MHD Leasing LLC), which targets the tourism sector, and (Auto Expert) company in the Sultanate of Oman. Al-Bahrani led the company to launch (McLaren Automotive), (ABB EV Chargers), (Varta Batteries), (XCMG) and (Weir Trio) in the Sultanate of Oman. Under his management, 13 new sales facilities were established, and after-sales services expanded from 3 facilities in 2019 to 11 facilities in 2022. He also opened 3 new outlets for TYREPLUS Outlets by Michelin, bringing the number to 9. He also oversees the newly launched Hospital Care Division (HospiCare) under the umbrella of MHD ACERE.

Mutasim Al-Awlaki, aged 29, is the Co-founder of NomuHub, for Social Impact. Al-Awlaki co-founded NomuHub in 2017, introducing the concept (Travel with a Purpose). The company offers tour packages in countries including Zanzibar, Morocco, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Bali and Nepal, enabling travelers to explore those countries while contributing to volunteer work such as building schools, and participating in community development programs and medical camps. NomHub has created and renovated more than 200 classrooms worldwide, and helped over 30,000 patients through medical campaigns in Africa, as of September.

Selina Faid, aged 24, is the Founder and CEO of Nessa, for Commerce, Faid launched the social e-commerce platform Nessa in 2021. Today, the platform boasts 14,000 products from 250 brands, including 25 brands Exclusive to (Nessa) that allows its users to shop while watching videos of beauty experts and local influencers, explaining how to use the products. The company uses artificial intelligence and predictive analytics to connect consumers with sellers. According to Fed, the company’s sales have grown by more than 300% over the past year. Fed also pledged to donate a percentage of the sales to the workers

Forbes said that this year’s list includes 35 people from 13 nationalities. Egyptians are the most represented with 12 people, followed by 6 from Lebanon and 3 each from the Sultanate of Oman and Saudi Arabia. The residency of the candidates is distributed among 8 countries in the Middle East, with 12 of them residing in Egypt, followed by 10 in the UAE, 5 in Lebanon, and 3 in Saudi Arabia. The average age of all those who qualified for the list is about 27 years old.
To find the region’s most promising young talent, Forbes Middle East evaluated more than 400 nominations in two rounds, to produce a shortlist of 80 candidates. Then the judges, who are all experts in their respective fields, searched the candidates’ data to select those who deserved to qualify for the final list.

To select the candidates, the team considered some factors that included: the impact of the candidates on the industry, market, societal impact, and future growth opportunities. In addition to quantitative data and numbers, such as the amount of funds, the prizes won by the candidates, the revenues and the value of the deals, the number of people affected by them, and the number of customers and followers on social media.
