MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police (ROP), on Wednesday said it has opened an investigation into a “pitch invasion” incident during the West Asia Football Championship final between Seeb Club and Bahrain’s Al Riffa Club.
A video of a football fan entering the field in Seeb Sports Stadium during the course of the match went viral on social media.
In a statement issued, ROP said: “Royal Oman Police followed the video clip circulating on social media about a fan entering the field during the match between Seeb Club and Bahrain’s Al Riffa. We would like to confirm that the circumstances of the incident will be investigated and necessary measures will be taken.”

Al Seeb Club won the match 4-0 and also entered the final of AFC Cup.
