MUSCAT: At least 32,608 international flights arrived and departed through the Sultanate of Oman’s three – Muscat, Salalah and Sohar – airports till July 2022, an increase of whopping 142.1% compared to 13,468 flights during the same period in 2021.
Statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information showed that the number of arrivals through airports recorded a remarkable increase by 187%, as the total number of arriving, departing and transiting passengers at Muscat, Salalah, Sohar and Duqm airports reached 4,907,599 until the end of July 2022.
The number of departures through the airports of the Sultanate increased by 127% till July 2022 compared to the same period in 2021.

The NCSI data showed an increase in the number of international and domestic flights (incoming and outgoing) through Muscat International Airport by 114.8%, as the number of flights reached 34,556 flights until the end of July 2022, transporting 4,251,173 passengers, compared to 16,084 flights In 2021, it transported 1,647,724 passengers.
Salalah Airport recorded a remarkable increase in the number of international and domestic flights by 95.3%, as the number of flights through the airport reached 4,601 flights until the end of July 2022. The number of international flights through Salalah Airport increased by 201.9%, and domestic flights through Salalah Airport recorded an increase by 52.9% to reach 2,578 flights, compared to 1,686 flights during the same period in 2021. The number of domestic (incoming and outgoing) flights for travelers through Salalah Airport increased by 68.2% until the end of July 2022, compared to the same period in 2021.
The number of international and domestic flights (departing and arriving) from Sohar Airport reached 534 until the end of July 2022 AD, and the number of passengers on international and domestic flights (incoming and outgoing) reached 47,697 passengers.
As for Duqm Airport, it recorded a 6.6% increase in the number of domestic (departing and incoming) flights, reaching 386 flights until the end of July 2022, compared to 362 flights during the same period in 2021, while the number of passengers increased by 45.1% from 25,402 passengers until the end of July 2021 to 36,868 passengers until the end of July 2022.
With regard to the most prominent nationalities using Muscat International Airport, the Indians topped the highest number of passengers on departing and arriving flights through the airport, with a total of 144,845 passengers until the end of July 2022, followed by the Bangladeshis with a total of 47,424 passengers and Pakistanis with a total of 37 1,797 passengers until the end of July 2022.
