MUSCAT : Ministry of Health will start administering influenza vaccines at its health centers for people over 50 years of age, and people with chronic medical conditions such as respiratory diseases, heart diseases, renal, hepatic, neurological, hematological or metabolic disorders, including uncontrolled diabetes mellitus and adult obesity. It will be administered to children, pilgrims, health workers and pregnant women.

The target group is invited to visit the nearest health center to get their seasonal influenza vaccine, so as to avoid infection from influenza, which affects the respiratory system, causing serious complications.

The Ministry has also stated that the vaccine is available in the private health sector for citizens and expatriates not covered under the target group.
