MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman has expressed its willingness to restore Syrian artefacts that were damaged during the war in the country.
The Syrian News Agency said that Lubana Mushawah, the Minister of Culture of Syria, discussed in Damascus with the Secretary-General of the National Museum in the Sultanate, Dr. Jamal bin Hassan Al-Moussawi, the points related to the loaning of Syrian artefacts that were damaged during the war for restoration and display in the Sultanate.
She added that the two sides reviewed, during a meeting held at the Ministry of Culture building in Damascus, the possibility of renewing the loan of Ibn Majid’s manuscript, while the Omani side expressed its desire to cooperate and continue to provide assistance for the restoration of art pieces, other antiquities and to hold joint exhibitions between the two countries.

About 25 Syrian antiquities have been restored in Amman and will be handed over to the Ministry of Culture.
The meeting came intending to follow up on what was reached through the cooperation agreement between the Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums and the National Museum in the Sultanate of Oman and to determine the details of the implementation of agreed projects to protect cultural property.
