MUSCAT: An official data on revenue of hotels in Sultanate of Oman witnessed a significant increase of 106.9% till August 2022, crossing OMR 108 million.
The monthly bulletin of tourism indicators issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) revealed that the number of guests in the hotels rated 3 to 5 stars increased by 34.2% till August 2022 compared to the same period in 2021.
The occupancy rate recorded a growth of 22.4% to reach 42.5 percent during the same period, compared to 34.7% in 2021.

The guests from GCC states showed huge growth of 1250.9% from 7,874 in 2021 to 106,371 in 2022, followed by Europe whose number grew by 615.9% from 26,400. At the same time, the data revealed that the number of Omani guests decreased by 14.9% from 556,035 to 473,232.
The number of guests from the United States of America was about 35,803, an increase of 201.5% and those from Africa reached 5,198, a growth of 101.9%.
The number of guests from other Asia countries also increased 40.2% from 91,273 to 127,995 during the stipulated period.
