MUSCAT: The Sohar Municipality has launched two projects that will help taxi drivers in a number of locations in the wilayat of Sohar in the North Al Batinah Governorate.
Engineer Malik bin Saleh Al-Rushdi, a project engineer in Sohar Municipality, said that the taxi waiting hall project is being worked on in the Falaj Al Qabail area on the Sohar-Al Buraimi road. It will comprise of two halls, one exclusively for women, with a capacity of 35 people. It is the second hall in the wilayat of Sohar, after the first hall located near the Sohar Bridge.
“The second project will have five waiting rooms in Al Hambar Commercial, Al Waqibah next to Sohar Bridge, Al Turaif opposite Safeer Mall, Falaj Al Qabail area opposite the industrial area, and Muwailih for taxi drivers. Another waiting room which can accommodate 14 people, next to Sohar Hospital, on an area of 40 square meters too will be constructed.”

The construction works are to start soon and will be managed by a specialized company which has been identified in the governorate.
