MUSCAT: With an investment of OMR 1.6 billion, Oman Rail and Etihad Rail are establishing a joint company to implement and operate a railway network linking Sohar Port with the UAE national railway network.
The railway network route between Sohar and Abu Dhabi which extends for a distance of 303 kilometers will adopt the highest international safety, and environmental standards to provide safe and fast services for passenger and freight transport.
The passenger train speeds up to 200 kilometers per hour and travels the distance between Sohar and Abu Dhabi in 100 minutes and 47 minutes between Sohar and Al Ain, while the speed of the freight train reaches 120 kilometers per hour.
