MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman may get cooler this week as many parts of the several governorates are expected to witness thunderstorms of varying intensity accompanied by active downward winds, hail, and chances of the flow of some valleys this week.

Oman Meteorology tweeted on Wednesday: “Cumulative clouds activity today (Wednesday) of and for the next two days has been seen. Chances of rain of varying intensity, sometimes thunder, accompanied by active downward winds, hail, and chances of the flow of some valleys and reefs on the Al Hajar Mountains and the neighbouring areas is expected and may extend to desert areas.”

Low clouds and fog will form on the coastal areas of the Sea of Oman and on parts of the governorates of Dhofar, Al Wusta, South and North Al Sharqiyah. “We expect scattered rain forming thunderstorms over Al Hajar Mountains during the afternoon. The spread of low clouds over parts of the coasts of the Sea of Oman (North and South Al Batinah and the eastern coasts of Musandam Governorate) and on parts of Al Buraimi, South Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta governorates, and clouds of different heights spread over the Governorate of Dhofar,” it added.
