Khareef season: Record 464,000 flyers at Salalah Airport

An increase of 46% passengers this season from June 21 to September 21 has been witnessed during Dhofar Autumn 2022.

SALALAH : The number of passengers traveling through Salalah Airport in the Dhofar Governorate during this year’s Khareef tourist season reached 463,848 passengers during the period (June 21 to September 21), an increase of 46 percent compared to the same period last year.


Salim bin Awad Al Yafei, Executive Vice President of Salalah Airport, said in a statement to the Oman News Agency: “The number of flights in the Khareef Dhofar season reached 3,385 incoming and outgoing flights, an increase of about 49 percent compared to the same period last year, noting that August witnessed the highest average The number of flights per week is 352 flights.”


All airlines in the Gulf Cooperation Council states operated direct flights to Salalah during the Dhofar Autumn season for this year, including Waze Economy Airlines, Air Arabia, Fly Dubai, Gulf Air, Al Jazeera Airways, Kuwait Airways, Flynas, Qatar Airways.


National carrier Oman Air operated about 1,372 domestic flights during this Khareef season, while SalamAir’s domestic flights reached 648 flights during the period from June 21 to September 21.


For the upcoming winter season, Salim bin Awad Al Yafei said that eight direct flights will be operated per week from Slovakia, Italy, Poland and the Czech Republic, starting from November till March, 2023.

Dhofar Governorate is one of the important tourist destinations in the Arabian region during the summer Khareef season, known for its beautiful tropical weather and moderate temperatures, as well as the winter season, which makes it a destination for visitors and tourists from all over the world.
